What the service records
- Every request carries a named access key, issued to one named person. There is no anonymous access, and keys are not shared between people — so a record always belongs to one key holder.
- An audit log records each study lookup: the key, the tool used (for example “get passage”), a one-way fingerprint of the request, and a timestamp.
- During the pilot, quality review may additionally record the full lookup itself — the passage references and search terms sent to the service. Key holders are told when this is on. These records are kept for at most 90 days, reviewed only by the operator, and used solely to improve how the assistant behaves.
- Minimal server logs (timestamps, paths, errors) for keeping the service working.
If you connect your own AI app
Your conversation stays in your own AI client. Koinar receives only the individual study lookups your assistant makes — never your chat history, your notes, or anything you type to your assistant that doesn't become a scripture or background lookup. This is how Koinar has always worked and nothing about it has changed.
If you use the study page on this site
This is a small, invitation-only pilot, and it works differently from the connector above. Because the conversation happens here, we can see it — so here is exactly what that means.
- There is one cookie. When you sign in with your access key we set a single sign-in cookie so you stay signed in. It is not an advertising or tracking cookie, it cannot be read by scripts in your browser, and it holds only an opaque reference to your key — not the key itself, and not your name.
- Your key is never stored in your browser. You paste it once; it is checked and then discarded.
- Your conversations are saved, and used to improve the assistant. They are stored against your key rather than your name, kept for 60 days, and then deleted. You will be asked to agree before your first message, and the choice is per conversation.
- Ratings are part of the point. If you mark an answer good or poor, that rating is saved with the conversation. It is the most useful thing you can give us.
- Whoever issued your key can revoke it at any time, which ends access here immediately.
Koinar is a study tool, not a counsellor or a clinician. If you write something that suggests you are in difficulty, the assistant will point you toward a person rather than try to handle it — and you should treat that as the honest limit of what a tool can do.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don't run analytics or third-party trackers, and we set no advertising cookies. The only cookie we set is the sign-in cookie for the study page described above, and only if you use it.
- We don't use your conversations to train anything outside Koinar, and we don't send them to another AI company.
Self-hosting churches
Churches running the self-host bundle keep everything — the databases, the access keys, and the audit log — on their own hardware. Nothing is sent back to us.
